Larry Williams was appointed Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs in April 2017. Larry partners with Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, Susan Courtney, in support of strategic initiatives including: faculty development, recruitment, retention, mentoring, diversity, and communications.
Larry has been a member of the Peabody Institute faculty since 1994. He currently serves on the Chamber Music in the Conservatory, and is the former Chair of the Preparatory Brass & Winds Department, and Director of the Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) Program.
Currently, Larry is engaged in several interdisciplinary projects across the university, including the JHU Enterprise Excellence Initiative, which focuses on using a collaborative approaches and strategies to identify ways to strengthen the university.
An accomplished musician, Larry has performed with: Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Arturo Sandoval, as well as the San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and New World Symphony Orchestras. Larry appears on numerous recordings as a soloist, and chamber musician, as well as serving as a featured clinician at conferences, workshops, and festivals across the US and abroad. His interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation led him to found the American Studio Orchestra, a multimedia ensemble that brings together: musicians, videographers, photographers, filmmakers, dancers, and other creative minds to produce thought-provoking and enriching performances.
Larry is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music and is a Yamaha Performing Artist/Clinician.
